Working on the free swag campaign for my zazzle product. I have Facebook Computers Icons for each of the characters almost made. After that I will have to create the keychains but first I have to buy the keychains. So I have some stuff to do first. All the while I am still creating an awesome teaser which is much more difficult than I thought. So there. I am over worked and tired lol but I am alive and happy to be creating something that I love and believe in.

A teaser is on it's way!
So I got cut off from creating this. I have a little advice about getting better at animation here it is:
Do it, fail, learn, repeat. Get faster at doing it. Repeat Cycle.
The more times you do something the more you can learn from it. Do learn from your mistakes. Be open to not blinding yourself with your greatness. It could be blindness. Love what you do though.
Here is something I have been working on. It's the logo for Udder Chaos! BMV
So here it is, if I posted this again, sorry lol. but still working on the Teaser! It's gonna be funny.

An Animator's Struggles
I must admit. I am in a pickle. I have had some hard times and since this will be viewed forever that is all I will say. I think I will remember the struggle and the suffering when things get better.
As for Udder Chaos it's going well. Here's the Logo!

Background drawings for animation
I have never considered myself a background artist. I find drawing backgrounds boring and tedious. That was until I drew the backgrounds for this cartoon. I feel that, I know, who Milk is. Because of this I see the room as an extension of Milk. I know. It sounds crazy and if I had told myself this stuff a year ago that I would actually like drawing backgrounds and props. I would have told you, that you sir, were crazy. This is where I laugh.
These are some really rough sketches I doodled while at a film festival.

I had another doodle I had to erase lol. That's why you see a face. I'm drawing a unicorn right now. I will have that on my Zazzle store.

I started making cut out animated cartoons in Flash. The problem with flash is that it was not made for animators. I researched software and picked Toon Boom Studio. I stayed with it for about 5 years before investing in learning modules. It was the best 100 dollars I spent. 2 years from then I would see Toon Boom Studio's limitations and upgrade to Toon Boom Animate 2. I have hit some of the limits on Animate but I am still happy with the software.
My first rig was a Penny from my short Penny. In it I rigged the characters. I also had some limited animation in it. It looked too much like cut out animation. I learned that you really had to draw a lot of substitutes to make something look great. I remember showing an animation to Soloman one day in Advance Film. Soloman's body language spoke louder than words. I knew what was coming. So I braced myself.
He said that the cartoon looked like a puppet and not real. I was thankful for his critique but at the same time I pondered why. I took some time to think about what I had done wrong and then it hit me. I had not planned out the rig. A the time I was working with Faith Hornbrook to create her animation, By My Side. I knew that the rigs in 3d were just as important as the 2d rigs.
I reworked my rigs on my animated cartoon 1st 44. I thought at the time I would be making another episode. That's another story though.
If you want to watch my short 1st 44 here's a link. It won 3rd place in the Student Film Competition for A Bunch of Short Guys.

Anyways. I was fixing Milk's head rig. Milk was the first rig that I got any success from but now returning to it is like fixing a Model T. lol, you gotta take out the engine.
I created him in Trig. I had just had the worse critique for my colossal failure of a film. And doodling while my monotoned professor spoke, made me happy. He was a different character back then. I didn't even know why the characters where animals. I now have a backstory to that. I am even thinking of making a movie script about it. Well I have to get to work.

Mistakes can make you Better
I learned from my second animation that creating a color palette was very important. I learned that rushing is never the best thing to do. I also learned that you have to go back to redesigning characters if need be. Penny was a huge story mistake. It doesn't introduce my world. The colors in my world don't scream, post apocalyptic. I also didn't make Penny very likable. The last fight is rushed and many things just don't look that great.

I learned that you have to be your worst critic. I learned that when people aren't excited about it when you show them the story then you have to rewrite the story. I learned that you have to take criticism to get better. Mistakes can make you better as long as you keep working. Work hard and get better. Don't give up.
I know I won't.
Oh this is a little bit of background design for Udder Chaos I made today. Enjoy!

More Props to you!
A little bit more from project Bear Milk Venison, or Udder Chaos! as it is known. I have created two more posters in Milk's room. This one tells a little bit about Milk. Hope you guys like it. I am glad that a friend of mine, Patty helped me with the translation. Thank you very much!
If anyone has Guessed, Milk loves Art. He loves cooking and studies paintings and painters. His favorite Artist is Andy Warhol.
Well till next time keep reading and have a great day!
(Someone informed me that my french grammar was horrible. So I fixed the picture!)

Props in Animation
I'm working on my animation Udder Chaos! and have a great prop that I wanted to show.
Pretty cool huh? So Milk loves art and this work was inspired by an artist who provided cover art for the Velvet Underground. OK hope to keep posting .

Udder Chaos: Project Bear Milk Venison
I know, I have been inactive in this blog but I am here to inform you that Bear Milk Venison has a new name! Wait for it...
I had always intended that Bear Milk Venison be the project name, much like Blue Harvest was for Star Wars.
So it is now called.... drum roll .... Udder Chaos!
The Script is at it's 19th draft and is actually "finished." It's really good to create something. It's wonderful to see it grow and change. My friend Erik Rossdorf is voice acting for me. He's both Yak
and Zeke.

A new addition to the crew is Jerome Jones. Here is a screen shot of him.
Everyone will learn who these characters are and what makes them tick. I'll keep you informed about Udder Chaos' status.
Thank you!

Bear Milk Venison is a Gooooooooooooooo!
Still working on Bear Milk Venison. I have the 21 page script finished. I'm just tweeking it. I have revised it at least 15 times. I have worked on making the beginning more engaging and the end more meaningful. My goals this weekend include designing a gruff turtle named Jerome. He's an Artist that life beat down. Think of a new graduate from Art finding that he had to live on the streets. Jerome did anything to service. thankfully he was a turtle that has a very mobile home.
I'm working on Toon Boom Animate 2. I own a cintiq 12 inch screen. it really helps make animating awesome. I can't wait to finish getting the script right and finding the voice actor for Dale Deer. I have a lot more to talk about but I really have to get back to work.
Hope you guys enjoy this. Robert
